What cookies are

A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a site. Some are indispensable to making the site work; others measure how it is used or serve advertising. Anything in the second category requires your consent before it is set, under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act.

The cookies we use

Analytics (optional). Google Analytics 4 sets _ga and _ga_XPG4CQ1YDB to count visits and see which pages are read. They expire after two years and carry no advertising identifier. They are written only if you press Accept.

Your choice (essential). A single local entry remembers whether you accepted or refused, so we do not ask again. It is not sent anywhere.

Motion preference (essential). One session entry remembers whether you paused animations. It clears when the tab closes.

At present this site sets This site sets one category of non-essential cookie — analytics — and only after you have accepted it. Until then, nothing is written to your device beyond a single record of your own choice.. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no tag manager and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to. We would rather say that plainly than display a banner asking permission for tracking we do not perform.

If we later introduce audience measurement, a consent interface will be added before the first non-essential cookie is set, refusing will be exactly as easy as accepting, the choice will be stored for no more than six months, and this page will be updated to list each cookie, its purpose and its lifetime. No advertising cookie and no cross-site tracking will be introduced.

Fonts and media

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. That request carries your IP address to Google. No cookie is set by it. The homepage background film is currently streamed from videos.pexels.com, which likewise receives your IP address when the clip loads; no cookie is set by our site in the process. We intend to self-host both the fonts and the film to remove these third-party requests entirely.

Your choice

Because nothing non-essential is set, there is currently nothing to switch off here. You can still block or delete cookies for any site through your browser — the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge explain how.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can change your decision at any time from the Cookie choices link in the footer, which reopens the banner. Your browser’s settings let you review, block or delete cookies for any site; the single sessionStorage entry we use (your motion preference) is cleared automatically when the tab closes.

Third parties

If we ever introduce a measurement tool, this page will be updated before it goes live, and it will not be activated without a lawful basis. We do not sell data to third parties.
