Where smart bidding stops being smart.

Performance media run as system design rather than channel tactics — knowing exactly where automation helps and where a human hand wins.

The brand had handed its performance media almost entirely to automated bidding. On the dashboard it looked efficient; in reality the euros were leaking into the wrong places, because the machine was optimising toward the wrong definition of success.

What we did

We treated the account as system design, not a set of channel tactics. That meant getting the structure and the signals right first, then deciding deliberately where to let automation run free and where a human had to overrule it. Smart bidding is a powerful engine; it still needs someone deciding where the car is going.

The result

Spend was redirected to where it actually compounded, and performance held up beyond the vanity of the dashboard — the difference between an account that looks efficient and one that is.

Automation is a tool, not a strategy. The strategy is knowing when to overrule it.
